Nutrition trends

However, the variety of food trends also shows that simply being full is no longer enough. People are now eating out of conviction - for their own lifestyle or against certain foods and their production. "Nutrition is increasingly becoming a question of world view. Consumers therefore want [...] products and services that contribute to a sustainable and healthy diet in line with their individual needs and values," says Gerhard Berssenbrügge, CEO of Nestlé Germany. Increasing prosperity, growing health awareness and the ever greater perceived scarcity of time are contributing to the fact that the way we deal with food is increasingly characterized by social and ethical criteria. This is the conclusion of the new Nestlé Study 2016 "So is(s)t Deutschland", which was published for the third time after 2009 and 2011.

Functional Food

Whether rich in proteins, vitamins, minerals or fiber. The trend of selecting foods according to their specific ingredients for one's own diet can be summarized under the keyword "functional food".

The idea of functional food originated in Japan, where the development of products with additional health benefits has been promoted since the mid-1980s. A concept was developed and special foods were introduced to improve quality of life, promote health and reduce the risk of illness.

In Germany, "functional eating" has become increasingly important in recent years. It is increasingly recognized that a healthy lifestyle and a healthy diet not only maintain health, but can also prevent illness and increase one's own well-being.

Clean Eating

However, it is not only "functional eating" that is in vogue, but also conscious and "clean" eating, so-called "clean eating". Although it is already 20 years old in the USA, the "clean eating" concept has been gaining attention, especially in recent years. Great importance is attached to unprocessed products without additives and flavor enhancers - in other words, a short list of ingredients. Food must be of high quality and, if possible, free from sugar, processed flours or other unnatural substances. Fast good instead of fast food is the motto here. In future, food should remain fast, uncomplicated and simple, but with a greater emphasis on quality, regionality and naturalness. Food trucks, street food markets and market halls are experiencing a huge boom and provide unusual, fast but also healthy food. These trends make it possible to have access to fresh, natural and healthy food almost everywhere, including nutritious snacks. Because these are also very much on trend. Vegetable potato chips or homemade energy balls made from dates and many other such snacks are increasingly finding their way into the pockets of health-conscious people.

Seeberger Producte right on trend

Seeberger products are therefore right on trend. Nuts, for example, provide the body with many monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids, and many varieties also contain antioxidants, folic acid and vitamin B - an all-round power package for the heart, brain and cells. Dried fruit is a great source of fiber and also provides the body with important potassium. With Seeberger nuts, dried fruit and various nut-fruit mixes, Seeberger offers varied snacks packed with important nutrients that are fully in line with current nutritional trends: functional, practical, quick and of the highest quality.
